Terravibe is a gentle yet powerful whisper from the soil below thatreminds us we rely on the Earth. It inspires hope, agency, and actionduring times of transformation and uncertainty, impossible to ignoreonce experienced.In all our activities we pay special attention that many voices will beincluded, particularly focusing on people with a migration background, youth, and seniors. We&#38;nbsp;aim to provide a setting for a highly participatory praxis: It is import-ant to us that every person who wants to take part is welcome to join.
Our project has three main goals. Firstly, we aim to tap into the collective intelligence of the city and support local life-affirming initia-tives, both existing and new. Secondly, in these uncertain times, we want to overcome indifference and inspire a senseof agency, bridg-ing the knowing-doing gap. Lastly, we seek to identify and explore concrete opportunities for collaborative, regenerative action that willbenefit all inhabitants of the city and promote thriving communities.

In 2023, we’ll conduct a series of events to move from awareness to action, drawing on research on system transformation, neurophysiology, and our own expertise from art, design, and ecology.

_Soil art installations: to raise awareness and spark curiosity inpublic spaces. People will get introduced to the topic and the projectby lifting soils normally hidden below our feet into people’s eyesight &#38;amp;attention.


_Soil dialogue series: to explore how soil sustains our lives an&#38;nbsp;well-being. Our aim is to bring together different perspectives, ex-pertise, and wisdom from various sectors as the basis for integrated&#38;nbsp;solutions.


_Soil learning lab:&#38;nbsp;to establish a community of learning, teachingand sharing about our relationship to ourselves, soil and nature.Together we gain the capacity to deal with our increasingly complexenvironment and challenge

_Soil stories &#38;amp; festival:&#38;nbsp;documenting personal and collective sto-ries and experiences that inolve soil and finding common groun&#38;nbsp;through a digital community space. As the culmination of this year-long journey, we’ll host a “celebrate soil” festival during the summer&#38;nbsp;to bring together our growing community.

Terravibe presents a moment of reflection on Climate Change, Migration and In/Justice as part of the exhibition “On the Move Across the World: stories of coming and

going” at the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum. Soils, the base of life on land, are literally and metaphorically the common ground our lives and communities are built upon. Expanding on their work with soils as a hyper-local, stable

medium, they play with water and rivers as a global, flowing element to draw attention to in/visible connections between the mountains and the sea, beginnings and endings, Switzerland and India. By getting personal through a mixed method comparative study

between the Tomasee in Switzerland and the Gangetic Delta in India, their intention is to bring forward dialogue as a tool of empathy, change, resistance and action in highly complex, intangible contexts. This project was created throughout the 2024 Residency by EcoArt Lab by HKB, in association with the Ballenberg Museum,

Helvetas, and mLab at the Institute of Geography at University of Bern.

Under this project, two works were created.&#38;nbsp;

Wie schaffen wir es, in unserer schnell ändernden, zunehmend komplexen Lebensrealität auf dem Boden der Tatsachen zu bleiben? Und welche Rolle spielt dabei unser Essen? An diesem Abend gehen wir auf eine Entdeckungsreise um die Bedeutung von urbaner Lebensmittelanbau und Landwirtschaft und deren Bedeutung für Zürich, heute und morgen. Ist es möglich, dass der kaum beachtete Boden unter unseren Füßen eine verborgene Lösung für viele unserer dringendsten Probleme in der Stadt wäre?An diesem Abend schlagen wir die Brücke zwischen unserer inneren Dimension und der Entwicklung des Lebensmittelanbau in der Stadt Zürich im Aussen. Wir treten über alle unsere Sinne in Kontakt mit uns selbst, mit Erde und Nahrung - und mit unseren Mitmenschen: explorativ, partizipativ und zum Anfassen. Wir entdecken Methoden der inneren Entwicklungsziele, die uns unterstützen, um in unserer zunehmend komplexen Lebensrealität auf dem Boden der Tatsachen zu bleiben. Zusammen mit drei Expert:innen erhalten wir einen Einblick in den Status von Böden in Zürich, hinterfragen die Vorteile und Herausforderungen von urbanem Lebensmittelanbau und erarbeiten Ideen, wie urbane Landwirtschaft in Zürich weiterentwickelt werden und als Modell für andere Städte dienen könnte.Speisen und Getränke aus der Region sorgen dafür, dass wir während der gesamten Zeit gut genährt und mit Energie versorgt sind. How can we stay grounded in our rapidly changing, increasingly complex life realities ? And what role does our food play in this? Throughout this evening we are going on a journey of discovery around the urban food cultivation and agriculture and its meaning for the city of Zurich, today and tomorrow. What if the easily overlooked soil beneath our feet was a hidden solution to some of our most pressing urban challenges?On this evening we will build the bridge between our inner dimension and the outer development of urban food cultivation in Zurich. Join us to get in touch with ourselves, the city’s soils, and our fellow humans with all our senses: exploratory, participatory and hands-on. We discover methods of the inner development goals, which support us to build the inner capacities we need to stay grounded in our increasingly complex realities. Together with invited experts, we will gain insight into the status of soils in Zurich, question the benefits and challenges of urban food cultivation, and develop ideas on how urban agriculture in Zurich could be further developed and serve as a model for other cities.

Rooted in Zürich CH, [y]our 2040 is a collective endeavor designed to influence, accelerate and implement change. As one of 14 projects, Terravibe responded to their call for project proposals under the 2023 theme of “exploring regeneration” for the annual gathering. Our social innovation lab sparked curiosity, and we were selected to host a series of workshops to challenge and sharpen our project with a dedicated group of exceptional leaders in their fields over 3 days in the beautiful Engadin valley.

&#38;nbsp;“humble, humidity, human: they all go back to the same root – humus. We forget that we ARE soil. It is our highest honour, and our greatest choice, to work in humble service for mother Earth.”

 For the day-long event “A day with the Seeds of Vandana Shiva”, we were invited to host a market stand and present our work for soil health, celebrating diversity and stewarding biocultural heritage in Zürich amongst the “market of solutions”. We found ourselves within an impressive crowd of partners working for soil health &#38;amp; social justice, including the Kleinbauern Vereinigung Schweiz, the World Future Council, or ETH Systemic Design Labs. To bring our soil hills to the unique, international crowd who travelled to Zürich for the day, our artist Alisha created a portable micro-version of our zoilhill pyramid.

«A Day with the Seeds of Vandana Shiva» was a tribute to the matroness of the World Ethic Forum, the Indian scientist and activist Dr. Vandana Shiva. It was a tribute to her deep connection to nature and to her lifelong commitment to agriculture and food, to free seeds and biodiversity, and in particular to women. Last fall 2022, to mark her 70th birthday, her biography and a new film premiered. We were pleased to continue the tribute to her work with this day event, to present the film and to enter into a great open conversation with the audience.

The participatory afternoon aimed to create connections between people with different attitudes who are working and thinking with and on the vitality of the earth. The issues are urgent, from the expiring GenTech moratorium and the new technologies that are already creating «faits accomplis» under the radar to the need to negotiate regenerative agriculture with the entire political spectrum. 

This time of exchange was about sharing and empowerment, about connections, about information and inspiration. And about friendship. With each other and with the Earth.

At the end of the day, we wrapped up our table with full hearts and souls, and a long list of people who had expressed their interest in Terravibe’s work. Thank you for the weaving and for the inspiration.

We hosted our first day long community workshop to build three zoilhills. Throughout this day, we built 3 hills and discovered the ancient method of rammed earth, which has been used to build houses around the world, and spent a fun day with curious humans from diverse backgrounds. 

These soil art installations lift soils normally hidden below our feet into people’s eyesight &#38;amp; attention. We worked with soil from selected construction sites from Zürich’s Kreis 4 which had been covered by concrete for many years.

We explored soil with our bodies, minds and souls whilst getting hands on and consciously connecting to the ground below our feet and the land which we walk upon every day. We thoroughly enjoyed getting our hands into the ground with this diverse group of humans.
